Nagoya Women’s Marathon 2022: The Nagoya Women’s Marathon announces plans to hold the Nagoya Women’s Marathon 2022 in Nagoya on Sunday, March 13, 2022, with 22,000 participants on the same scale as before the Covid-19 pandemic began.
Koji Kitano, Race Director of the Nagoya Women’s Marathon, commented as follows. The Covid-19 pandemic has been unable to support the marathon challenge with 22,000 female runners over the past two years. As a runner myself, I understand how running fans around the world are waiting for the resurgence of mass racing. We will leverage our experience in the last two races during the pandemic to implement best practices to ensure the health and safety of our 22,000 runners. Race entry will begin in November and we are looking forward to receiving applications from many runners.

Nagoya Women’s Marathon 2022 History
Named the Nagoya International Women’s Marathon until 2010, the Nagoya Women’s Marathon is an annual marathon held in Nagoya in early March every year for female runners who run a classic distance of 42km 195 meters. Holds the status of the IAAF Gold Label Road Race.
It started in 1980 as a 20km road race held every year in Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture. After the first two years, the third installment was changed to Nagoya in 1982. In 1984, he turned to a marathon and added a 10-kilometer race. This race will serve as a Japanese women’s marathon championship on a three-year rotation basis. When deciding on a team for the Japanese Women’s Olympics or World Championships, race performance is usually taken into consideration. Nagoya also held two women’s Asian Marathon Championship races (1988 and 1994).
The 2011 race was canceled due to the March earthquake. In 2012, it was held in a new course, opened to the public for the first time, and renamed the Nagoya Women’s Marathon. About 15,000 runners participated that year.
