Overview of the Nagano Marathon
Nagano Olympic Commemorative Marathon is an annual marathon road race held in Nagano, Japan, in mid-April. This race is an (IAAF) bronze label race. Both elite and amateur runners compete in the Nagano Marathon. It was named after Nagano, which hosted the 1998 Winter Olympics.
The course is designed in a point-to-point format and has been approved by the Japan Association of Athletics Federations and AIMS. The course starts in Nagano City Athletic Park and heads south, passing the Zenk-ji temple on the way to the Nagano Olympic Stadium. Four of the old Olympic venues are included in the race course.
