Castano officials have 24 hours to convince the WBO that the federation should agree on a new date for a unification bout with IBF, WBO, and WBC world champion Charlo. The first meeting between the Argentine and the American was in July, and it ended in a stalemate.

Charlo vs Castano: The two boxers had already met in July 2020 in a match that ended with a tie verdict that had sparked much controversy.
Although, in fact, the count of hits scored had been in Charlo’s favor, 173 to 151, it seemed clear that Castano had had a clear advantage in terms of power and effectiveness, having put his opponent in serious difficulty, especially in the second part of the match.
The final verdict of a draw seemed rather generous towards Jermell Charlo with the team of Castano who had immediately asked for a rematch, now managing to get it, two years later.
